JOB DESCRIPTION

Under the leadership of the Vice President of Human Resources, the Director of Total Rewards and HR Systems will be responsible for the strategic planning, development, implementation, communication and administration of the Company’s Total Rewards and HR Systems programs. The objective of this role will be to orchestrate industry competitive Total Rewards and HR Systems offerings, while streamlining the administrative processes to insure their effective and efficient delivery, in alignment with and designed to achieve the Company’s business and operational goals of attracting and retaining the most capable talent. The Director of Total Rewards and HR Systems will also serve as the internal content expert for the organization regarding policies, procedures, laws and regulations pertaining to compensation, benefits, and other Human Resources areas as determined. As such, the ideal candidate should possess the following background, experiences, and competencies:


 


 KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE:


 


• Working closely with the Vice-President of Human Resources, the Director of Total Rewards and HR Systems will develop and present Total Rewards philosophy objectives and overall deliverables to Executive Leadership, Management, and HR Leadership.  


• Direct the strategic design, planning, implementation, communication and administration of the full range of compensation and benefit programs, including: Base Pay, Incentives, Equity & other Long-Term Incentives (LTI), Health and Welfare, and Retirement. 


• Keep abreast of regulations that impact Total Rewards and HR Systems such as Sarbanes-Oxley, FLSA, Title VII, FAS 123R, SEC regulations, FMLA, IRS rules and regulations, ERISA, DOL, Pension Protection Act, Section 409A, Safe Harbor rules, etc.  


• Continually evaluate the effectiveness of the Company’s benefit, retirement, and compensation programs and procedures to ensure that they support of the Company’s strategic business objectives. 


• Lead the annual compensation planning cycles, providing expert counsel on the design, development, and administration of Executive compensation programs, salary structures, base salary adjustments, short and long-term incentive plans, sales compensation, and executive compensation.


• Provide insight, technical analysis, and policy support to achieve equitable and competitive compensation and benefit programs which align with Sybron’s corporate objective to be an Employer of Choice. 


• Oversees the development and execution of the communication plan to inform employees of the value of and modifications to the Company’s benefits, compensation, retirement and related programs.


• Fulfill all reporting requirements of all relevant government rules and regulations, including the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA).


• Support the health improvement of employees and control the rising costs of healthcare. 


• Manage Relocation and Expatriate Assignments. 


• Create innovative programs and processes through partnership with outside entities and internal experts to create an effective and efficient delivery model. 


• Ensure that appropriate benchmarking is completed and presented to Executive management on a timely basis. 


• Contribute to and manage other Corporate programs and projects, including preparation of the department budget.


• Build, lead, and develop a talented, high-performing Total Rewards and HR Systems department.


 


 


REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION 


• Fifteen (15) or more years of hands-on experience in Compensation, Benefit and HRIS management with the last 5 to 10 years in a senior-level capacity in a publicly traded company or a division of a Fortune 500 company, ideally operating in a multi-divisional and a multi-national environment.


• CCEBS and/or CCP designation is strongly preferred.


• Experience with fully utilization of Oracle. The successful candidate will be a proven executive-level leader with strong business and financial acumen, solid organizational and multi-tasking skills, superb technical skills in Compensation, Benefits and HR Systems coupled with exceptional quantitative and analytical capabilities. 


• Good judgment and strong operational focus. 


• A professional demeanor that gains the respect and confidence of employees at all levels of the organization. 


• A high energy level, a hands-on management style, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills.


• The ability to partner with the management team to ensure delivery of the best possible compensation and benefit programs and the ability to effectively communicate to all stakeholders.


• A demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple priorities and programs.


• Experienced builder of teams; provides mentorship to develop their staff through developmental discussions and stretch assignments. 


• Quantitative modeling and problem-solving skills to develop the framework for, and execute the research on, strategic or market competitive practices.  


• Strong business acumen, financially astute, attention to detail and strong sense of logic will be critical to success in this role.
